KIDS

The main reason for tonsillectomy in children in Australia is now snoring- and we are still not doing enough.

Many of the children having tonsillectomy in Australia have had little or no tonsillitis- snoring is a major concern in children and should not be ignored. Children who snore may have problems with concentration, behaviour, school performance and also heart and lung problems.

If your child snores most nights, seek the advice of a childhood ENT specialist by requesting a referral from your GP.

ADULTS

Be wary of sleep apnoea, which is a serious health problem in adults. Unfortunately, adult snoring is slightly more difficult to treat than childhood snoring.
